Walcott has revealed the 2006 World Cup was a daunting experience
THEO WALCOTT has admitted that his call-up to the 2006 World Cup came too early in his career.

The Arsenal striker was called up to the squad by Sven-Goran Eriksson at just 17-years-old without having played a single Premier League match.
Over nine years later, for one reason or another, Walcott still hasn't made a start in a major tournament for England.

The 26-year-old now admits he was daunted by the experience, but he doesn't look at the past and is determined to help England at Euro 2016.
“I was thrown into the limelight straight away having not even played a Premier League game and suddenly you are surrounded by these top-quality players and you are thinking, ‘Do I deserve to be here?’" He told the London Evening Standard.

“I just had to deal with it. I’ve had a lot of experience since then and earned quite a few caps. Being around top players helps you learn but it was too early in my career.
"You can’t change the past and I just want to look forward to the Euros now."
Walcott, who has been in fine form with the Gunners this season playing in a central role, could lead the line as England take on Estonia at Wembley tonight (7.45pm).
