ARSENAL have been given a boost in their bid to sign Spain striker Nolito in January, according to reports.
The 28-year-old Celta Vigo star has scored five goals in seven Liga appearances this season.
His form has seen him called up to Vicente Del Bosque's Spain squad and linked with a move to Arsenal and to Barcelona.
But the Catalan side, currently under transfer embargo, would need to sell before they can buy in January.
Their embargo is lifted at the turn of the year but according to the Daily Mirror a club statute would not allow the signing of a player who would cost £13million.
Nolito is the joint second top scorer in Spain behind Real Madrid's Karim Benzema - level with Cristiano Ronaldo and Imanol Agirretxe.
He came through the Barcelona academy, making two appearances for the first team before moving to Benfica.
It was in Portugal where his career kicked into gear but a return to Spain, to Granada, and then to Celta Vigo is when he made his name.
Arsenal are considering a move when the transfer window reopens and had expected to have to compete with Barcelona, however, it now appears they will have a free run at him
