Saido Berahino is in contention to face Southampton |
SAIDO BERAHINO has been told he will one day get his mega-money move - but never to Tottenham.
West Brom manager Tony Pulis is considering playing his £25million-rated striker against Southampton today after a three-match absence and a failed attempt to leave for Spurs during the summer.
Pulis said: "Personally I don't think Tottenham will ever come back.
"There are other clubs out there who will, most probably, but I don't see [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy coming back to try to sign Saido again. I might be wrong but that's just my feeling."
Now Pulis has to decide whether to put Berahino straight back in and let him take the fans' reaction on the chin after he threatened to go on strike when his dream move was denied.
"The big disappointment with Saido is he has let himself down with the way he has handled everything," said Pulis. "His reaction has not been sensible. He is immature the way he reacts at times. The respect he should have shown the club wasn't there.
"He has been silly but to say that kids can't have the ambition to move on and better themselves is completely wrong. I wish I had 10 others in that dressing room who had his quality and the ambition to move on to better clubs, higher clubs."
Southampton, are set to bring back midfielder Victor Wanyama, another player who expressed a desire to join Tottenham during the summer, have announced that goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga has signed a new four-year contract.
