Emmanuel Adebayor has been left out of Tottenham's Europa League squad |
TOTTENHAM have excluded Emmanuel Adebayor from their Europa League squad after the striker failed to find a move away from White Hart Lane on deadline day.
The Togo international was not on the list Spurs submitted to Uefa and he is also unlikely to be on the 25-man senior squad list that they will submit to the Premier League later today.
The 31-year-old was expected to leave White Hart Lane during the summer after struggling to break into Mauricio Pochettino's first-team.
The north London club were desperate to get his £100,000 weekly wage off the books before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The striker was linked with a move to Aston Villa in the summer before a switch to West Ham collapsed when Adebayor demanded £5million to pay off the rest of his contract.
Adebayor has been forced to train with Tottenham’s development squad and he has been stripped of his No 10 shirt, which has been given to Harry Kane.
If the former Arsenal and Manchester City player is left out of the league squad he would be in limbo for the early weeks of the season. There is the possibilty of the striker moving to Qatar as the transfer window there does not close until the end of September, however the player would prefer to stay in London.
