Thierry Henry admits Manchester United are taking gamble on new signing Anthony Martial
Anthony Martial has become the most expensive teenager ever at £36m
THIERRY HENRY says Manchester United have taken a “massive gamble” after they completed a £36m deal for French teenager Anthony Martial.

Martial, 19, has been likened to Henry because of his pace, power and eye for goals but the former Arsenal star says he still has a lot to learn.
“It is a weird one for me, we’re from the same town in France so I knew about him way before he want to Lyon and then Monaco.
“He has pace but can he score a lot of goals - I actually don’t know because he has only played 52 [senior] games. There are a lot of boxes you still have to tick with him because he has played so few games.
“So it is a massive gamble but you have to do that these days, especially in the situation Manchester United are in.

“He has pace and we saw him at the Emirates last season causing trouble for the Arsenal defence [in the Champions League]. He certainly has a bright future but there is question mark is he going to perform at United?
“We saw Angel Di Maria, an established and experienced player, who couldn’t make it at United but I wish him well.”
Asked where he would play, Henry believes it will be as a centre forward. “He played in the middle against Paris St Germian at the weekend and did well. It will take him a bit of time to learn what the job requires.”
Apart from the £36m fee - a world record for a teenager - United are understood to have agreed a further £22m in addons - dependent on international caps, Champions League success, goals, and if he were ever to win the Ballon D'Or.
