Revealed: Why Manchester United's £14.5m deal with Tottenham fell through
Javier Hernandez wanted to play Champions League football
JAVIER HERNANDEZ turned down a move to Tottenham because he wanted to play Champions League football.

The Mexico international was inundated with offers this summer, notably from Premier League duo Spurs and West Ham.
However, according to German publication SportBild the 27-year-old refused to join any club outside of the Champions League.

The north London club are understood to have offered £14.5million for his services, but they were ultimately unable to compete with Bayer Leverkusen' lure of Europe's elite competition.
The striker instead signed for the Bundesliga club in a deal believed to be worth £7.5m, striking a personal deal valued at £70,000-a-week.

Chicharito's departure has left Manchester United in a dire state of affairs up top, with just Wayne Rooney, James Wilson and unproven new signing Anthony Martial on their books.
Louis van Gaal also loaned out Adnan Januzaj on deadline day to Borussia Dortmund in a shock move, despite previously stating he could be deployed as a striker.
