Keylor Navas admits he never planned to leave Real Madrid in the summer |
KEYLOR NAVAS has admitted he had no intention of leaving Real Madrid for Manchester United in the summer.
The 28-year-old was set to join the Red Devils on La Liga's transfer deadline day in a swap deal for fellow goalkeeper David De Gea.
But the deal collapsed as Real failed to send the required paperwork to the Spanish FA in time.
And Navas, who is now the No.1 keeper at Real following the departure of Iker Casillas to Porto, claims he had no desire to leave the Bernabeu.
"I never thought of leaving Real Madrid," the Costa Rican said. "I always wanted to stay here. I am happy here and hope to stay for many years.
"The transfer to United was complicated, it is not a comfortable situation.
"But it's now over to me and I am just trying to be focused on the present. That's the only thing it matters. I am aware the fans always backed me in any situation."
