Rafa Benitez insists Keylor Navas is capable of replacing David De Gea |
RAFA BENITEZ has insisted he is not bothered by David De Gea's decision to sign a new deal with Manchester United.
The Spain international put pen to paper on a new four-year deal at Old Trafford, with the option to extend a further year.
And despite coming so close to a move to Real Madrid this summer, Benitez has played down today's shock news.
The former Chelsea and Liverpool boss instead diverted attention to Keylor Navas, confirming he has every faith in the Costa Rica international.
He told reporters: "De Gea belongs to Manchester United and I am satisfied to have Keylor, Kiko and Ruben - Keylor already knows this because I have spoken with him.
"Navas knows the trust that I have in him and he is calm and confident. That day [when the deal collapsed] I had dinner with him, his wife and his agent. I just want him to do it very well.
"Yesterday he trained sensationally. He made three or four great saves. So he is not affected. He is delighted [to be here] and me too. I always say the truth".
