MANUEL PELLEGRINI reckons Manchester City 'played better than Juventus' despite losing 2-1 to their Serie A champions in their opening Champions League tie.
 
City took the lead after Giorgio Chiellini headed into his own net under pressure from Vincent Kompany.
But with 20 minutes to go City switched off allowing Mario Mandzukic to level the scores after connecting with Paul Pogba's perfectly timed through ball. 
And nine minutes from time Alvaro Morata curled effort left Joe Hart no chance as the visitors departed the Etihad with with all three points.
 
Pellegrini said: "It's disappointing, I don't think we deserved to lose.
"We had better chances and played better than Juventus. It was a typical Champions League game, both teams didn't create many chances but we had more possession. 
 
"It was not a tactical problem, Juventus just scored two beautiful goals."
Sergio Aguero was an unused substitute following following his knock that he picked up in their 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend.
Raheem Sterling had City's best chances of the game but failed to convert as Pellegrini's side found themselves once again on the back foot in the Champions League.
