Mario Balotelli quit Liverpool for Milan last month |
NEWS NEWS BLOG SPORT brings you all the latest news and transfers from Anfield.
Liverpool's net spend during the transfer window was £22.3million.
The club completed nine signings over the summer months, while shipping out eight on a permanent basis.
A further 17 went out on loan as manager Brendan Rodgers prepared his squad for the long season ahead.
And the Liverpool Echo have calculated that Rodgers' dealings in the transfer market have been relatively frugal.
Liverpool spent a minimum of £75.9m on purchases this summer - and that is before add-ons.
Christian Benteke arrived from Liverpool in a £32.5m deal, while Roberto Firmino (£21m up front) and Joe Gomez (£3.5m) could both see their fees rise.
Meanwhile, the club offloaded £51.6m worth of talent - namely the £44m for Raheem Sterling, with another £5m in potential add-ons from the England winger.
The club's eventual outlay for the summer could peak at £86.4m, with income expected to reach £60.6m.
Therefore, if all clauses and bonuses are met, Liverpool's actual net spend will sit at £25.8m.
One of Liverpool's new recruits, Firmino, says he always wanted to play in the Premier League.
However, the Brazilian also revealed his desire to play Champions League football in an interview with Liverpool FC magazine.
"It's strange but I remember just before I moved to Hoffenheim that I had a dream about playing in England," he said.
"At the time that wasn't an option, the opportunity wasn't there for me. Then it came along a few months ago and I quickly decided it was the right offer for me.
"As a footballer, I always want more. I really enjoyed my time in Germany but didn't actually win anything. So the next step was to join a club that can compete for trophies, that's why I came here.
"I want to fight for titles and play in the Champions League. So moving here really is a dream come true."
Mario Balotelli is a reformed character, insists Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani.
Balotelli rejoined Milan this summer after failing to make an impact at Liverpool.
The £16m signing scored just four goals for the Reds last term and was sent back to the San Siro on loan.
“He has an extraordinary attitude, he’s changed radically,” Galliani said. “He’s the first to arrive at [the training centre] and the last to leave.
“Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic often wants the players to have breakfast at 8.30am and he’s always there before eight.
“He’s probably realised that this is his last chance and I’m sure he won’t waste it. His technical ability has never been in question. If he continues with the approach he’s had in this first week then he’ll be fine.”
