Liverpool hero: I'm disappointed in Rodgers as Chelsea boss was slammed for doing the same
Ronnie Whelan does not think there is a conspiracy against Brendan Rodgers
LIVERPOOL legend Ronnie Whelan says he is disappointed in manager Brendan Rodgers for suggesting there is a conspiracy against him.

Rodgers has claimed former players, the press and pundits have rounded on him after the Reds' poor start to the season.
However, Whelan insists that is nonsense and urged the Northern Irishman to get on with his job.

He also pointed towards the example of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who was widely criticised last season for suggesting their was a "campaign" against his side.
"Brendan Rodgers should know better than to reach into the book of excuses and blame unnamed dark forces for his current set of circumstances. It's all about results," Whelan wrote in his column for The Herald.

"I'm disappointed that he did. He got the win he needed against Aston Villa and that would have been a good time to smile and meet questions with an inscrutable face.
"Why hand out more ammunition?
"Last season Jose Mourinho was universally lampooned for his suggestion that the world was out to get Chelsea."

Whelan, who is one of Liverpool's most decorated players, is not sure whether Rodgers is up to the job, claiming whoever the main man is at Anfield needs to learn to take criticism.
"The manager must be brave and talented to make the cut at Anfield and I'm not sure Rodgers fully appreciates that fact," he added.
"He's the boss and he takes it all on the chest."
