c could start for Liverpool at Manchester United tomorrow |
JOE GOMEZ says Liverpool face a "strenuous" fixture list this autumn, with the Europa League getting underway next week.
Liverpool face Manchester United this weekend before a Europa Group B clash with Bordeaux.
They started the season with two wins and a draw from their first three games but then lost 3-0 to West Ham before the international break.
Gomez, 18, has started all four games for the club and is expected to be in the XI for the trip to Old Trafford tomorrow (5.30pm).
And the £5million summer signing from Charlton revealed his surprise at being thrown straight into the action.
“It has been a constant rollercoaster for me really,” he told liverpoolfc.com.
“But I’ve really enjoyed it and I’m just taking it in my stride and trying to keep moving forward instead of trying to stop and look back at what I’ve done. I’ve got a long way to go.
“With the games in the Premier League, there’s not really any time to rest. As soon as you stop, there’s a game on the next Saturday or Monday.
“Especially with the Europa League coming in now, it’s going to be even more strenuous.
“But it’s good and I really enjoy it because it keeps you going and obviously you enjoy playing football. So it’s good to get as many matches in as you can.”
Meanwhile, Juan Mata has spoken out over his expectations ahead of the derby clash with Liverpool.
“You cannot know it if you don't live it from the inside,” Mata told the United Review.
“I knew when I came to England that United-Liverpool was one of the biggest games, but when you are inside it and part of it, you realise it is the biggest.
“The history of both clubs, the rivalry... you can feel it from the start of the week before the game, it's unbelievable."
