Juan Mata wants the fans to get behind the team for the game against Wolfsburg |
JUAN MATA believes the Old Trafford crowd can get Manchester United back to winning ways in the Champions League.
The Red Devils lost their opening group game to PSV Eindhoven 2-1 and also suffered the misfortune of Luke Shaw's severe injury.
United face Bundesliga giants Wolfsburg, who have started the season strongly, in their second game on Wednesday night (7.45pm).
And Mata is confident that they can go and get the result with the backing of a home crowd in full voice.
"In the next few days we face two important games. The Champions League is back," he wrote on his weekly blog.
"The first game is against Wolfsburg at home. We know we must fix our situation in the group after losing against PSV on week 1.
"In order to do so we count on Old Trafford, because we are sure our crowd will celebrate being back to the top competition in Europe."
However, the midfielder is not underestimating the German side, praising former team-mate Andre Schurrle and new signing Julian Draxler.
He added: "The Germans played very well last season, and they are having a good start in this one.
"I have seen them in a few games and they are a dangerous team with talented players I know very well, like Schurrle, a former team-mate.
"After Kevin de Bruyne’s exit they have made important signings like Draxler, and they keep being very competitive."
