Jose Mourinho looks on as his Chelsea team slump to defeat against Everton |
CHELSEA rocked as odds on Jose Mourinho leaving Stamford Bridge were slashed dramatically.
The change follows their shock 3-1 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park this lunchtime.
Bookmakers William Hill are offering 7/2 that Mourinho will be sacked before the end of the year and 5/2 that he has gone before the end of the season.
Spokesman Joe Crilly said: "Chelsea have had a woeful start to the season and you have to think that the race for the title is almost over before it has begun.
"Mourinho very rarely lasts longer than a couple of seasons at clubs and there is a feeling that his second stint at Stamford Bridge may be coming to a close."
Ahead of the match, Mourinho had dismissed claims he would be leaving Chelsea.
"Let's be objective. I don't want to leave the club, in any circumstances," he said.
"And the club doesn't want me to leave. I'm not going to walk away. The club is not going to sack me. Full stop.
"Why is it different from 2007? Do people think, if myself and Mr Abramovich collided, I would be back three years later?
"Just because I left it does not mean we collided. Right now we have one problem. We are not getting the results we expect to get.
"I have never had a start like this - four matches and just four points. I'm not happy - and I'm happy that I'm not happy."
