Arsenal line up January transfer window move for Serie A star after Danny Welbeck injury

Mauro Icardi could be a transfer target for Arsenal

ARSENAL will make a January move for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.

 

The Argentina international, who was top scorer in Serie A last campaign with 22 goals, was linked with a move to the Emirates during the summer.

However the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger opted not to sign an outfield player with just Petr Cech coming in.

 

Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani were among the strikers who were said to be interesting Wenger but no move was made.

But Italian website Calciomercato claim Wenger will move for Icardi when the transfer window reopens in January.

 

Arsenal have lost Danny Welbeck until Christmas after knee surgery.

While Olivier Giroud is the only attacker in the squad to have scored this season.
