Hector Moreno says he |
HECTOR MORENO has sidelined another footballer through injury just weeks after breaking Luke Shaw's leg.
The Manchester United defender suffered a double leg break in his side's 2-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League earlier this month following a heavy tackle from the Mexican.
Shaw had started United's season positively and looked set to be a regular for England throughout their World Cup qualifiers. But with the news that he will likely be out for six to nine months he is set to miss the remainder of the season and the European Championships in Paris next summer.
Moreno is understood to have visited Shaw in hospital following the tackle and also took to Twitter to issue an apology to the youngster.
And it appears Moreno could be visiting another footballer in hospital after another one of his tackles saw Oussama Tannan of Heracles taken off following a bad challenge from the Mexico international.
Luke Shaw suffered a double leg-break from Hector Moreno's challenge |
Despite playing the next game for Heracles in their 4-1 victory over Vitesse Arnhem, De Telegraag report the winger is now out for around six weeks with a hairline fracture in his knee sustained from Moreno's challenge.
Speaking to Metronieuws before the extent of his injury had been revealed Moreno defended himself saying: "I did not even touch him, he can still play, can't he? The reaction has magnified everything; there was a lot of criticism."
