Garry Monk has guided Swansea to an unbeaten start this season |
SWANSEA will undo their good start to the season if they are humbled at Watford today, according to manager Garry Monk.
The Swans are fourth in the Premier League after an unbeaten start which included a draw at Chelsea and a third-straight win over Manchester United.
But Monk has warned his players they need to refocus or face going "back to square one" by coming unstuck at Vicarage Road.
"It's going to be tough down there, it's going to be about how we approach it," said Monk. "We need to have a good attitude. We can turn the good start we've had into a great one or go back to square one - and we do not want that to happen.
"We need to tune back into the Premier League. Hopefully we will see that this weekend because, maybe after international breaks before, we have maybe suffered a little bit.
His opposite number, Watford manager Quique Flores, insists his club did try to sign British talent this summer.
Not one of the 16 players that arrived at Vicarage Road during the transfer window were British, leaving Troy Deeney, Craig Cathcart, Ikechi Anya and Ben Watson as their only homegrown players.
"I'm really happy with the British players that we have," said Flores. "These players are very important for us so of course I would like to have more players like this.
"The issue is financial, these players are very expensive. Of course we scouted homegrown players during pre-season, they are on the list."
Colombian loan signing Victor Ibarbo received international clearance yesterday and will be available to play today.
