Fallout 4 modding is coming to PS4 and Xbox One while the ESRB have detailed the gameplay action |
BETHESDA have a plan of action on how they will support Fallout 4 after the dust has settled on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
A lot of the studio's plans will snap into place early next year, when they hope to start releasing new DLC content as well as the new Creation Mod Kit for PC.
Bethesda has confirmed that the software being released is the same as what they use and will open up a huge range of possibility to fans.
Fallout as a franchise has produced a dedicated modding fan base, with Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas both sharing an impressive list of game-changing options on modding sites such as Nexus.
One of the main draws of buying Fallout on PC has to be the modding ideas open to fans, something that is set to be expanding to console players for the first time.
Coming first to Xbox One, modding will be available on both new-gen consoles, although the ground rules set by Bethesda for giving mods the greenlight includes banning assets from other games, as well as nudity.
In a new update, Bethesda spelled out some of what they hope to achieve in 2016, telling fans: "The most important thing in our games is the freedom you have to create your own experience, and modding is a big part of that. Like all our previous games, we’ve made sure to keep Fallout 4 open and moddable at every step in development.
"Early next year we’ll release for free the new Creation Kit for the PC. This is the same tool we use in the studio. You'll be able to create your own mods and share them with others.
"We’re especially excited these same mods will then be coming to Xbox One, and then PlayStation 4.
"We'll be doing regular free updates to the game, and like Skyrim, these will come with not just fixes, but new features.
"We’ll work with all of you to figure out what new things you’d love to see added to Fallout 4, whether they are small tweaks or new features."
New details about Fallout 4 have also been revealed by the Entertainment Software Rating Board's summary of the game, describing its contents as including: "Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Use of Drugs."
"This is an action role-playing game in which players assume the role of a fallout shelter resident emerging from a post-apocalyptic world. As players traverse the open-world environment, they complete various mission objectives and use machine guns, machetes, lasers, and explosives to kill mutants and other human survivors.
"Battles are frenetic with realistic gunfire, explosions, and large blood-splatter effects; some attacks result in slow-motion dismemberment and decapitations. A handful of scenes depict chunks of flesh as well as severed heads and dismembered corpses.
"During the course of the game, players can consume a variety of fictional drugs (e.g., Buffout, Jet, Psycho) through the use of a menu; repeated use of these drugs leads to an addiction status and various negative effects for characters. The words “fuck,” “shit,” and “asshole” are heard in the dialogue."
