Everton won't appeal Kevin Mirallas red card
Kevin Mirallas was given his marching orders for a challenge on Modou Barrow
EVERTON will not appeal the red card Kevin Mirallas received in their goalless draw with Swansea.

The Belgium forward came on as a substitute in time added on at the Liberty Stadium, but departed 136 seconds later for a challenge on Swansea sub Modou Barrow.
Toffees boss Roberto Martinez had been pondering whether to lodge an appeal against the decision.
But the Spaniard believes the system is such that Everton will just have to accept the three-match ban.

“We were really disappointed with that decision. It was his first action in the game and it looks worse than it actually is,” Martinez said.
“Kevin is never looking at the opposing player, there’s never any intent and it’s not a malicious challenge. His foot is high and and it’ a harsh red card. From that to be able to appeal and get the decision overturned is difficult.
“I don’t think we have a chance to do that. The red card was harsh and we don’t feel it was the right decision but in the same way understanding how the system works I don’t think we have a chance overturned.

“We need to feel hurt with the decision, and help Kevin because he showed the right intention to help the team.
“He was over-keen to win the ball and nothing else. He stood on his feet, it wasn’t reckless or dangerous. His intention was to win the ball so it was very unfortunate.”
Everton travel to Reading on Tuesday in the third round of the Capital One Cup with Ross Barkley set to make his 100th career appearance for the Toffees.
And Martinez believes the England star will develop into a world-class talent at Goodison Park.
“When you realise that landmark it’s quite impressive to already play 100 games it’s a remarkable achievement,” Martinez added.
“He had an injury as a young footballer but has since then he’s always been available. The last 20 games you’ve seen an incredible development in his potential and clearly at his age he has a long way to develop.

“He knows how to be world class in his game. I think the excitement is we have a player who is a world class in the future.”
