David De Gea is expected to stay at Manchester United during the next transfer window |
After failing to secure his move to Real Madrid this summer after paperwork was not submitted to La Liga before the Spanish deadline, it had been expected that De Gea would join Rafa Benitez's side in January.
However, according to reports in Spain, Manchester United will do everything they can to prevent the departure of their star man.
The Old Trafford side are expected to hand De Gea a new contract, however whether the 24-year-old signs a new deal remains to be seen.
De Gea was said to be distraught his move to Real collapsed at the last minute and it had been suggested he could sign a pre-contractual agreement to join the La Liga giants next summer.
However, Louis van Gaal's side will attempt to tie him down to a new deal as soon as possible.
