Dani Carvajal is reportedly a January target for Chelsea |
DANI CARVAJAL is a target for Chelsea in the January transfer window, according to reports in Italy.
Tuttomercatoweb report that Jose Mourinho will be in the market for a new right-back following Branislav Ivanovic's uncharacteristically poor start to the season.
The Serbian's contract is due to expire at the end of the campaign, and after seven years with the club his time at Stamford Bridge could be coming to an end.
It's understood Mourinho will look to raid his former club for highly-rated Spain international Dani Carvajal as a long-term replacement for Ivanovic.
Real Madrid signed Porto's Danilo over the summer to provide competition on the right side of defence, which could push the 23-year-old towards the exit.
However, Carvajal will not come cheaply, having signed a new deal with Real at the end of last season, keeping him in the Spanish capital until 2020.
The Blues are expected to make an offer in the region of £14million for the full-back, although given his position in the squad and remaining contract length a higher offer will more than likely be needed.
