Chelsea striker Diego Costa is waiting to find out to see if he will receive a ban from the FA |
DIEGO COSTA will find out today whether he will receive a possible retrospective three match ban, if referee Mike Dean's report is referred to the FA's video panel for further scrutiny following Saturday's controversial 2-0 win over Arsenal.
But Chelsea will take Costa out of the firing line this week as controversy surrounds the combative Spanish striker.
Dean cautioned the Spaniard, but it was unclear whether he saw a previous incident where Costa appeared to slap defender Laurent Koscielny that was captured by television cameras, before Gunners star Gabriel was sent off for retaliation.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants action to be taken, saying: "The referee let it go and I don't know why.
"I would like them to take action. I would like them, especially Dean, to look at the whole action and see if he stands by his decisions."
But Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will rest Costa for Wednesday's Capital One Cup clash at League 1 Walsall, with Radamel Falcao coming in for the holders.
