Belgian star wants to leave as Man Utd, Chelsea and Spurs prepare for disappointment
Witsel is set to stay in Russia with Zenit St Petersburg
AXEL WITSEL has resigned himself to staying at Zenit St Petersburg despite reiterating his desire to leave the club.

Chelsea have been linked with the Belgium international all summer, while Tottenham recently emerged as the most likely suitors.
Manchester United are also understood to be keeping tabs on him and were recently quoted a price of £70million to take him to Old Trafford.

And while Witsel confirmed he was keen on a move elsewhere, he revealed his disappointment at being forced to stay in Russia.
“I will not leave anymore,” he said.
“Zenit took the decision yesterday because in that short time they cant find someone to play on my position.
“It's a pity because I hoped to make a transfer.”

The 26-year-old's response comes after AC Milan lodged a bid to to take him to Italy.
His chances of a switch to Serie A fell by the wayside when the European window slammed shut yesterday, clearing the path for Premier League clubs to swoop in.
But they will now have to turn their attentions elsewhere, with Spurs keen to pursue a deal for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama.
Chelsea are still believed to be in the running for Juventus star Paul Pogba and United look set to strengthen their forward line with  from Monaco.
