Arsene Wenger lauds Per Mertesacker's 'typically German' qualities
Per Mertesacker's typically German attributes make him a star, says Arsene Wenger
ARSENE WENGER has joked Per Mertesacker’s ‘typically German’ qualities are what make him a star player at Arsenal.

The BFG as he is affectionately known to the Gunners fans, has been out of action following a minor car accident and illness.
He didn’t travel with the squad to Croatia for Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb, however, Wenger has hinted at his return this Saturday against Chelsea (12.45pm).
And the Frenchman admits it’s Mertesacker’s commitment on and off the field that has garnered him such respect form the players and fans alike.

He said: “He has a lot of class on the pitch and after the game. He is well respected, also in the dressing room, because he is always 100 per cent committed and gives everything for the team.
“Every day he works with 100 per cent commitment.”
And when asked if those qualities were typically German, he jokily replied: “They are typically German but even more typically Mertesacker.”
