Arsene Wenger admits he got his tactics wrong against Dinamo Zagreb |
ARSENE WENGER has admitted his tactics didn't work in last night's 2-1 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.
The Gunners started their European campaign off miserably as Olivier Giroud got himself sent off before half time.
Wenger made six changes from the side that beat Stoke 2-0 on the weekend as David Ospina, Mathieu Debuchy, Kieran Gibbs, Mikel Arteta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Giroud all started.
Wenger insists Giroud was not to blame for Arsenal's defeat and admitted he himself got it wrong on the night.
"You know that when you don’t win the game you have to look at yourself and think, ‘I didn’t get it right,'" said Wenger.
"I personally don’t believe that the players who came in had a bad game. It just didn’t work. We know we have to do that again. We were maybe a bit unlucky and maybe lacked cohesion or some competition in some situations.
"I have to analyse that. It’s very difficult to give you a definite answer straight after the game."
Wenger will have to be more selective of his side this weekend as they travel to champions Chelsea on Saturday (12.45pm).
