Apple has included a reference to the hugely popular internet meme on its website |
DID YOU spot the Rick Roll reference Apple sneakily included on its official website?
Apple has a habit of silently bundling tricks and jokes in its software.
And now the secretive Cupertino firm has included a hugely popular internet meme on its website.
Apple has included a Rick Roll int its support page for the Apple Watch, the US technology company's first wearable device.
Demonstrating its new Digital Touch feature on the Apple Watch – which recently got its first major software update – Apple has hidden the lyrics to Never Gonna Give You Up in the Friends dial.
The initials around the Digital Touch face are the lyrics to the 1987 hit song |
Rick Rolling started in May 2007 and quickly went on to become one of the web's most iconic memes.
A Rick Roll – sometimes stylised RickRoll – involves sending or posting a hyperlink or video which appears related to the topic at hand, but in reality leads to the 1987 music video for Rick Astley hit Never Gonna Give You Up.
Google has previously Rick Rolled developers by including a link to the music video in beta code for its YouTube Android app.
The beta code appeared to confirm rumours circulating at the time that Google was planning to launch a new music service (which it since has).
But it was simply a taunt from the Google developers who sent hundreds of beta testers to the Rick Astley video instead.
Apple has previously included the Rick Ashley as the Now Playing artist on its website.
Look hard enough and there are multiple references to the Rick Astley song on the Apple website |
