Xbox Live Down: Users start reporting problems playing GTA 5 around 8pm UK time. |
XBOX ONE and Xbox 360 users are reporting fresh outages today, having encountered issues earlier this week.
UPDATE FIVE: Microsoft have removed the Xbox Core Services as being affected by outages and have replaced it with several lower level problems.
Xbox.com is no longer listed as a problem area, however, Buying downloadable items and Unlocking achievements in-game have been added.
The IGN Xbox 360 app is also listed as being offline but that seems to be longer running issue.
The update to the Xbox Live status page website concludes that Microsoft's support team are still working to fix the listed problems.
UPDATE FOUR: Many Xbox users can now log into their profile on console but are currently unable to join multiplayer games.
North American users are reporting that they can now reach the home screen but are then hit by an error message telling them that they are actually offline.
It means games like GTA Online and Destiny are still inaccessible for many in the UK and North America.
Friends List continues to be offline, with many losing access when trying to join an online session.
Today's outage appears to be the biggest to hit Xbox Live for a number of months, having seen limited problems affect users on July 24, for several hours.
UPDATE THREE: Microsoft have shared a further update on the issue of users being unable to sign in online, writing on Twitter: "We're working hard on the current issues signing in to Xbox Live.
"Thank you for your patience."
Microsoft and Sony usually don't share an estimated time for when the service may come back online, although today's outage does seem to be one of the biggest in recent months.
Users are currently being faced with an error message when logging onto their Xbox accounts, telling them to try again later.
The error code itself, 0x87DD0019, was the same one that was shared during the mass outages on Christmas Day in 2014.
Those were caused by a coordinated DDOS attack, it is still unclear, however, what is affecting the service today.
UPDATE TWO: Microsoft have confirmed that problems being experienced by gamers on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles in the UK and North America are being looked into by their support team.
Signing into Xbox Live is the main issue at the moment, with Microsoft confirming: "Having trouble connecting to Xbox Live?
"We are currently working with our partner to find a fix for these issues.
"Thanks for being patient.
"Another update will be provided as soon as possible."
Accessing the Xbox Live website is another problem listed by Microsoft, with navigating the Xbox.com sites currently not possible.
The problems currently being encountered by fans look to be on a much larger scale then those seen on Friday, when select users experienced a limited offline period and issues using the Friend Activity feature.
UPDATE ONE: Problems were first reported in Europe around 8pm UK time on Friday, which saw the Rockstar report their services as limited at the time.
Xbox Live came back up later but has since run into fresh problems, with users reporting no friend activity or server coverage in the UK.
No issues are currently listed on the official Xbox Live status page but users in the UK say they are having intermittent issues.
One gamer wrote: "Looks down again. Everyone offline and I can't change my status to online. This is happening too much nowadays.
"Says no one is online out of my 43 friends. No friend activity and when I watch Amazon prime it comes up error and doesn't load. Same with games."

ORIGINAL: Xbox Live users are currently struggling to join other Xbox Live members in online games and manage friends lists and track what friends are doing.
An official message from Microsoft reads: "Having trouble creating or joining multiplayer matches? Can’t join parties, send party invites or view the activity of users on your Friends list?
"We’re aware of these issues, and our engineers are working hard to reach a solution ASAP! Thanks for your patience, Xbox members.
"We’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more."
Xbox Live has remained relatively unaffected by outages in July, while gamers using the PSN on PS4 and PS3 seeing sporadic problems.
