Yaya Toure says Man City have a point to prove this season |
VINCENT KOMPANY has admitted City have 'something to prove' in the Premier League this season.
City got the new campaign off to a flying start, running out comfortable 3-0 winners against West Brom at the Hawthorns.
Yaya Toure appeared to be back to his old best, causing the first goal and smashing home a powerful strike to double the visitor's advantage.
And Kompany compounded City's advantage with a flick header from a corner and admitted after the game that City have a point to prove.
He said: "We have something to prove. Last season was below what we're used to doing. It was a good way to start the first game.
"It gives us extra motivation. We came out knowing we had a point to prove. If you'd seen the faces in training last week, I knew the team was going to be ready for this game.
"Every club needs stability. [Manuel Pellegrini's new contract] gives us stability and the right kind of environment to work in towards the end of the season."
