Tottenham and West Ham suffer blow as Everton agree double deal
James McCarthy and Kevin Mirallas are set to confirm their future with Everton
EVERTON are set to agree new contracts with James McCarthy and Kevin Mirallas in the coming
days that will safeguard their futures.

McCarthy is ready to sign a new five-year deal after Everton moved to reward him for his progress by ripping up the contract agreed when moving from Wigan in 2013.
Tottenham have pursued McCarthy, but he will now remain at Goodison Park where he is central to manager Roberto Martinez’s plans.
The Republic of Ireland international had three years remaining on his contract, but will receive a substantial pay increase.
Tottenham and West Ham suffer blow as Everton agree double deal
Roberto Martinez has had a stressful summer trying to keep hold of defender John Stones
“The situation is James is not going anywhere,” said Martinez. “If there are reports of a possible sale, then I can guarantee that is not going to happen because he's a player we want to build our future around.
“He was a big investment from the Championship when we brought him in, we want the player to be happy, and we hope we will get the positive news over the next few days on everyone.
“We don't want players to be unsettled. We want to be sure James McCarthy is happy and looking forward to the season with Everton.”

The future of Mirallas has also been in doubt, but Everton are looking to extend his deal.
West Ham had a bid rebuffed for the Belgium international who has 12 months left on his current contract with an Everton holding an option to extend by a further year.
That will now be replaced by a long-term agreement and Martinez added: “At the moment there is nothing to comment on (as regards contracts).
“We are addressing a few individuals within the squad and when there is something to say we will.”
