Louis van Gaal will be hoping his new summer signings can take United to the Premier League title |
SWANSEA boss Garry Monk believes Manchester United are capable of winning the title this season.
United travel to the Liberty Stadium looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season against a strong Swansea side - who have also avoided defeat so far.
And Monk believes Louis van Gaal has the squad to challenge for the title.
"They can win it with the squad they've got after the amount of money they've spent," said the Swansea boss.
"With the quality they have, they should be competing for the title.
Garry Monk believes his side are the 'underdogs' in this weekend's fixture |
"You can see that they are going to be right up there contending for it and I think that's probably the minimum standard for Manchester United.
"They had a transition period last season with the new manager coming in. They've seen his way of working and this season they look a stronger outfit."
Monk acknowledged United's summer-spending spree had added quality to Van Gaal's side but insisted his players were ready for the challenge.
"It's always very difficult when you face the big clubs," he added. "They (United) have added a lot of quality and depth to their squad and have world-class players.
"We are the underdogs, but we're at home and we want to put on a performance in front of our own fans.
"There is plenty of motivation for the players after our two wins last season and we'll use that going into this game. We will probably have to produce our best performance of the season so far to come away with the result."
Marouane Fellaini is available for selection for Sunday's game having served his three-match league suspension.
Marcus Rojo could feature while Phil Jones remains out of contention after suffering mild thrombosis.
