SIDE EFFECTS OF WATCHING TELEVISION FOR A LONG TIME
WATCHING television for a long period of time has big and numerous side effects on you; it puts people at risk of deadly blood clots, experts have warned.
Sitting and Watching TV for five or more hours on average per day increases the risk of fatal pulmonary embolism by 100 per cent compared with watching fewer than two-and-a-half hours a day.
The 18-year study of more than 86,000 people found a level of risk normally associated with long-haul flying.
Toru Shirakawa, public health research fellow in the Department of Social Medicine at Osaka University in Japan, who led the research, said viewers should stand up occasionally and drink water during the programmes.
A separate study found that a daily nap cuts blood pressure and the chance of suffering a heart attack or stroke, while also cutting the need for blood pressure-reducing drugs.
