Sergio Ramos in training with Real Madrid |
REAL MADRID'S move to tie Sergio Ramos down to a new contract has hit a fresh legal snag.
The Spain defender is set to sign a new deal until 2020, despite interest from Manchester United.
Earlier in the summer it appeared Ramos' fallout with Madrid was unrepairable.
And Louis van Gaal had hoped to swoop in and use the Spanish club's interest in David De Gea to get the 29-year-old for a cut price.
However after talks with club president Florentino Perez Ramos decided to stay.
Rafa Benitez had always maintained the stance that he wanted Ramos to be part of his squad.
And now he is expected to sign a new long-term deal.
However reports in Spain today suggest the announcement has been delayed due to legal issue.
Spanish paper AS report that once those are sorted the club will confirm the new deal - with Monday expected to be D-day.
