Paul Lambert surprised by Aston Villa's spending spree |
PAUL LAMBERT admits he's surprised to see his former club Aston Villa spending an 'awful lot of money' in the transfer window so far.
The Scot was relieved of his duties at Villa Park in February after almost three years at the helm and was replaced by Tim Sherwood.
And asked if it annoyed him that his old club have now decided to spend cash, Lambert said: "It does a little bit. "It makes me a laugh a little bit in the change in the policy, but that's the way it is. "Good luck to Tim and Aston Villa in the future, whatever they want to do. Everybody has moved on and they have spent an awful lot of money."
The Villans have invested heavily this summer in an attempt to avoid another relegation battle after their 17th-place finish last term.
Sherwood has spent in excess of £50million on 10 new recruits after making £40.5m on the sales of Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke.
