Xherdan Shaqiri gives a thumbs up after the match |
XHERDAN SHAQIRI made an immediate impact on his Stoke debut with an assist in a 1-1 draw at Norwich.
A free kick from the former Bayern Munich winger was poked home by Mame Biram Diouf before Russell Martin got his second of the season when he fired past Jack Butland.
On a hot afternoon in Norfolk, both teams took a drinks break in the sweltering conditions during the first half.
Stoke took the lead when after nine minutes Diouf headed in Shaqiri's left-wing free-kick.
Norwich got an equaliser after a scrabble in the box and Martin swept a low shot past Jack Butland.
In the second half, Cameron Jerome missed a golden chance to give Norwich the lead when he stabbed the ball wide after being picked out by Jonny Howson in the penalty area.
Butland then made several saves to deny Nathan Redmond and then Graham Dorrans to safeguard a point for the Potters.
