Manchester United have missed out on striker target Fernando Llorente, who has today completed a move from Juventus to Sevilla on a three-year deal.
A club statement read: "Sevilla FC have signed Fernando Llorente as a free agent, having reached an agreement to terminate his Juventus contract.
"The Spanish international striker is tied to Sevilla for the next three seasons, with a buyout clause of €20m (£14.6m)."
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have also been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel.
The Belgian instead looks set to join Juventus in a £22m deal after revealing his desire to play in Serie A.
He told Corriere dello Sport: "I don’t have any intention of renewing my contract with Zenit because I want to have an experience in Italy."
And finally, United are lining up a shock move for Schalke forward Julian Draxler, who is a long-term target for Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Louis van Gaal has set his sights on a £20m move for the the German World Cup winner after failing to sign the now-Chelsea winger Pedro from Barcelona.
