Bayern Munich admit Dante was sold to Wolfsburg because the 31-year-old centre-half, who was also a target for Manchester United, wanted more game time.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said on the deal: “Dante simply wanted the chance to play regularly. We did not want to deny him this opportunity.”
Meanwhile, BeIN Sports correspondent Tancredi Palmeri claims United have lodged a £72.9m bid for Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale.
The Wales international, who Real have no desire to sell, has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford all summer.
And finally, Red Devils winger Adnan Januzaj is believed to be in 'advanced talks' with Borussia Dortmund over a season-long loan.
That is according to Sky Sports, who claim the Belgian has also attracted interest from Everton and Tottenham, Marseille and Valencia.
