Pedro played for Barcelona in a friendly vs Fiorentina last night |
MANCHESTER UNITED chief executive Ed Woodward is expected to fly to Spain and seal a deal for Barcelona winger Pedro.
With Angel Di Maria in Doha for a medical ahead of a £44m transfer to Paris St-Germain, United are now able to make their move for the Spain international, who played the full 90 minutes as Barcelona lost 2-1 to Fiorentina in Florence last night in the International Champions Cup.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Woodward has scheduled a meeting with Barcelona on Tuesday to finalise a deal for the 28-year-old.
The report says United are willing to pay Barcelona's asking price of £22m but are hoping to pay around £18m.
Pedro has struggled to gain a place in the starting XI with Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez keeping him out of the team.
Over the weekend, it was revealed Pedro's mother had confirmed her son would be moving to the Premier League.
Jaime Lorenzo, president of San Isidro, who were Pedro's first club, said: "The other day, Pedro’s mother told us he was leaving for England.
"I think it would be a good challenge for him and he will have more playing time.
"We will send him a gift! If the agreement is €30 million (£21m) at least €450,000 (£316,350) belongs to us, even though these contracts have some specific clauses."
