Man United make £75m double swoop for Bayern ace Muller and Saints winger Mane

MANCHESTER UNITED have made bids for Sadio Mane and Thomas Muller after missing out on Pedro.

United are understood to have offered Southampton £15million for their Senegalese striker Mane, who scored the fastest hat-trick in Premier League history last season.
And reports in Germany claim United have also made an improved bid of £60m for Bayern Munich front-runner Muller after having a £50m offer rejected earlier in the summer.

Bayern will rebuff the interest in Muller, who is one of their most popular stars, and it is unlikely the player will push for a move.
The German World Cup winner is said to be happy and settled in Bavaria and, at 25, is not yet looking for a new challenge like midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, 31, who moved from Bayern to United this summer.

United would appear to have a better chance of landing 23-year-old Mane but are likely to have to improve their offer to around £25m.
The player is understood to be aware of United's interest and keen to follow Luke Shaw and Morgan Schneiderlin from the south coast to Old Trafford if the two clubs can agree a deal, although Ronald Koeman will be loathe to lose yet another player.
Mane enjoyed an impressive debut year following an £11.8m move from Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg. He scored 10 goals, including the quickfire treble against Aston Villa in May.
Like Pedro, he ticks the boxes for Van Gaal, who wants to add pace, creativity and goals to his strikeforce.

Southampton's valuation of the player is unclear but it is unlikely they could be tempted into selling him for less than £25m including add-ons, especially as they know United are growing increasingly desperate with the transfer window closing in less than two weeks.
Van Gaal has made no secret that buying pacy attacking players is crucial to United's hopes for honours this season and Pedro's preference to move to Stamford Bridge rather than Old Trafford came as a big setback.
"Whether we can win the title [in the next two seasons] is dependable if we can buy players with speed and creativity," he said.
