Man City could move for Pedro |
MANCHESTER CITY will move to beat rivals Manchester United to Pedro if their bid to bring Kevin De Bruyne fails.
Although boss Manuel Pellegrini admits he still wants to strengthen in "a couple of positions" before the window shuts.
Ahead of City's clash with Chelsea the Chilean said: "We have a good squad at this moment, but if we can improve it in a couple of positions it is better.
“You have another option and more possibilities, although it doesn’t mean you are going to win because you have one or two players more.
“But is important to have a strong squad because all the other teams also have strong squads.”
De Bruyne is likely to cost City around £45million but if an agreement can't be reached with Wolfsburg, City will move for the Barcelona winger.
Pedro is expected to join United but they have yet to meet his buyout clause of £22m.
Louis van Gaal refused to discuss the situation yesterday.
He said: "I don't mention anything before he has signed. When he has signed I come to you and say: 'Hey, Pedro is here.'
"That is not the case and we shall wait and see."
