Jazz Summers has died aged 71 |
LEGENDARY music manager Jazz Summers has died aged 71, according to reports.
The music manager - who looked after the likes of Wham!, Snow Patrol and The Verve - passed away "peacefully" last night after a two year battle with lung cancer.
Summers co-founded label Big Life Management 29 years ago and has since helped to shape the careers of the likes of the Scissor Sisters and the Klaxons.
A spokesman confirmed: "The music industry has lost one of its most vibrant, most notorious and most brilliant characters.

"A champion of new music, a non-conformist and a visionary, Jazz Summers will be greatly missed."
He also said that the music manager was a "master of artist development" and his ability to recognise the potential of a song had brought him "huge success across several decades".
According to Music Week, Summers' artists have sold over 60 milliion albums and 72 million singles worldwide.
They added that over 100 of the singles managed to make it into the top 40.
In 1985 he helped Wham! break the US, alongside manager Simon Napier-Bell. They then became the first western pop group to tour China.
He released his autobiography - titled Big Life - in September 2013 and helped set up the Featured Artists' Coalition, which campaigns for the protection of UK performers' and musicians' rights.
Summers is survived by his wife Dianna, his daughters Katie, Rio and Georgia and his granddaughters Claire, Lila and Rose.
