'It's heartbreaking' Prunella Scales unable to recall 53-year marriage due to Alzheimer's
Prunella Scales is suffering from advanced Alzheimer’s
PRUNELLA SCALES is tragically suffering from advanced Alzheimer’s and can no longer remember much of her 53-year marriage to actor Timothy West, it's been revealed.

Piers Morgan has discussed the actress' "heart-breaking" battle with the disease, following her 80-year-old husband's appearance on his show Life Stories - which is set to air next month.
The 83-year-old - best known for playing Sybil in Fawlty Towers - was in the audience for Tim's interview, however she had no recollection of what she'd watched just moments after.

The former EastEnders star first disclosed his wife had a "mild" form of Alzheimer’s in March 2014.
Speaking about meeting Prunella, Piers, 50, said: "She was in the audience – he wanted her there – and he wanted to talk about her illness in front of her. He said 'don’t worry about it because she won’t remember.'

"Afterwards I said 'did you enjoy the show?' and she had no memory of being in the show. It’s heart-breaking and he got very emotional about it."
The chat show host added: "This is the saddest thing, they have been married 53 years and she has no recall of most of the marriage, so they can’t share moments."
Timothy, who wed the TV star back in 1963, previously spoke of his wife’s illness last year when they filmed documentary, Grand Canal Journeys.

He said: "Pru has this condition. It’s sort of Alzheimer’s but it isn’t, it’s quite mild. She can’t remember things very well – but you don’t have to remember things on the canal.
"You can just keep your mind absolutely vacant, enjoy things as they happen. It’s perfect for her."
Piers Morgan’s Life Stories will kick off on September 4 on ITV1.
