Fabio Coentrao could be on his way to Inter Milan |
INTER MILAN are eyeing up Real Madrid's Fabio Conentrao in their search for a new left-back, according to reports.
Manager Roberto Mancini is in the market for a new left-sided defender and has been linked with a move for Manchester City's Gael Clichy and Zenit's Domenico Cristico.
But both deals have encountered difficulties and Corriere dello Sport claim they will now turn their attention to the Portugal international.
It is thought Coentrao's Real Madrid future is in doubt after the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti |
Manchester United are thought to be long-term admirers of the 27-year-old, with some reports suggesting he could be used as part a deal to take David de Gea to the Bernabeu.
But interest appears to have cooled after the emergence of Luke Shaw as a first-team player and the Italians could now be the frontrunners for his signature.
Coentrao is almost certain to leave Madrid this summer, following the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti.
The Portuguese defender is firmly behind Marcelo in the pecking order and might find opportunities difficult to come by this season.
Benfica have also been linked with a move, while Tottenham have previously been credited with retaining an interest.
Inter are believed to favour a season-long loan deal.
