Have YOU hit the middle-aged health abyss? Brits in their 40s unfit and demotivated
It's said middle-aged Brits are heading for a health crisis
ARE you prepared for the middle-aged slump, or is it all lies?

If you're 41, you've given up - according to new research. It's said 41 is the age at which we fall into a 'health abyss', giving up on strict diets, health fads and vigorous exercise regimes.
Research amongst 2,000 adults aged 30 - 70 years old found - after hitting a wellbeing peak in our late 20s - we begin to lose focus as we head through our 30s.
And by the time we reach 40 and beyond, the average Brit's motivation to eat well and remain fit and healthy has all but disappeared.

Have YOU hit the middle-aged health abyss? Brits in their 40s unfit and demotivated
The average Brit's motivation to eat well has all but disappeared in their 40s
The shocking statistics, from a study commissioned by the happy egg co., claim the most common reason for tumbling head-first into a health abyss was “a lack of motivation”.

This was closely followed by “feeling too old to diet” and “wanting to enjoy life”.
Of the one in five adults who admitted to 'giving up' in their early 40s, around 36 per cent said they did so because they found it hard to maintain motivation.
And 26 per cent said they had decided to “enjoy life” rather than worry about their lifestyle on a daily basis.
Here's a scary figure: One in twelve of those surveyed mistakenly believed that chocolate is a good source of nutrients and one in twenty thought the same of popcorn.
And even more worryingly, more than half of those questioned said they were 'concerned' about their health.

A whopping 23 per cent have been confronted by a relative amid fears over their lifestyle.
And it's not good news for middle-aged men, either. The report revealed men find themselves heading into the health abyss around 20 months earlier.
Health expert Dr. Gio Miletto, commented on the figures. He said: “It's worrying to see that over one in ten Brits don't believe eating healthily is important.
"People don't have to obsess over their diet and fitness regimes in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle - simple actions like reducing the amount of salt and butter used in cooking and using healthy everyday foods like eggs into meal plans can help us step over the health abyss."
Rob Newell, Marketing Director at the happy egg co. said: "It's important to understand how small changes in our diet can contribute to overall health and wellbeing.
"Eggs are a quick and easy way to include protein, and vitamins into our diets, and their versatility in different dishes can keep mealtimes interesting."
Will you be stuck in the abyss or wise up before middle age?
