Harry Redknapp criticises Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho over public blast at medical staff

HARRY REDKNAPP believes Jose Mourinho is in the wrong over his spat with the Chelsea medical staff.

Mourinho called first-team doctor Eva Carneiro and club physiotherapist Jon Fearn "impulsive and naive" and said they did not "understand the game" after they raced onto the pitch to give treatment to Eden Hazard in the closing stages of his side's 2-2 draw with Swansea on Saturday.
The Portuguese boss was apparently upset over the possibility of his team being down to nine men with Hazard forced off and the earlier sending off of Thibaut Courtois.

Mourinho has been heavily criticised for his reaction to the incident and former Spurs boss Redknapp says the Chelsea manager is "in the wrong".
He told the Evening Standard: "The health of a player always has to come first. Whatever the consequences are for a manager trying to win a game, if the medical team are waved on by a referee to treat a player, they must have the right to react immediately and enter the pitch.

"Jose Mourinho is in the wrong over his treatment of Eva Carneiro and Jon Fearn. If there is an injury, the instinctive reaction of any paramedic, doctor or physiotherapist is to rush on to treat them.
"You can’t have medical staff second-guessing themselves, questioning whether they will affect the team’s chances of winning by running onto the pitch."
