Gong for Meryl Streep as actress is announced as honuoree
Meryl Streep, who plays the Iron Lady, has won multiple Oscars
MERYL STREEP, Sam Mendes and James Corden are the first to be announced as honorees for the 2015 British Academy Britannia Awards.
 
The three will be given gongs for their part in the collaboration between the British and American media industries by Bafta LA at a ceremony in Los Angeles on October 30.
The Iron Lady actress Meryl, 66, far right, who is a multiple Oscar winner, will receive the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film.

The award "is presented to a unique individual, upon whose work is stamped the indelible mark of authorship and commitment, and who has lifted the craft to new heights".
American Beauty director Sam, 50, inset, will take the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing and James, 36, who has been successfully flying the flag for the UK since joining US TV's The Late Late Show earlier this year, will be given the Artist of the Year prize, sponsored by Burberry.
 
"Bafta LA is proud to honour Meryl Streep's chameleonic genius, Sam Mendes' creative force and James Corden's entertaining ingenuity at this year's Britannia Awards," said a statement from the organisation.
On Thursday night Gavin And Stacey star James tweeted to say: "Well this is very lovely indeed! Thank you, Bafta."
James is in good company. Emma Watson, Daniel Craig, Kate Winslet, Tilda Swinton, Helena Bonham Carter, Emily Blunt, Michael Sheen and Rachel Weisz have previously won the award.
