Fallout Shelter could be released on Android in August, 2015 |
BETHESDA launched their new Fallout mobile game on Sunday during their E3 conference and its proved a hit for all those accessing it on Apple devices.
UPDATE TWO: Fallout Shelter has been announced as coming to Android platforms on August 13.
The news was revealed during a presentation at Quakecon, where it was also announced that the popular mobile game would be getting a big update at the same time.
The Fallout robot assistant, Mr Handy is set to be added to the game as some sort of reward and will help collect resources automatically from around your Vault.
Mr. Handy can also explore the Wasteland and used to defend your Vault from Raiders.
The big update will also add new enemies, such as the dreaded Deathclaw, while Molerats will also be added an infestation scenario alongside Radroaches.
Android users will get the update at the same time as those on iOS when the game is released on Android.
Fallout Shelter is currently compatible with iPhone 5 or later, iPad Mini 2 or later, iPad 3 or later and is optimised for iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air 2.
UPDATE ONE: Bethesda has shared a further update on the release of hit mobile game, Fallout Shelter on Android platforms.
Speaking to fans on Twitter, Peter Hines, Bethesda's marketing executive, revealed more on the rough release window Fallout Shelter is set to follow.
"Coming along nice," Hines tweeted in response to a fan query.

"Haven't announced a date, but should be out next month. We'll let you know when we have specifics."
It could mean Fallout Shelter will be launched early in August, 2015.
The Mobile title recently added its first character from Fallout 4, Preston Garvey, the leader of the Commonwealth Minutemen can now be found, along with his trusty Laser Musket weapon.
All Vault dwellers can be equipped with the gun, although the Garvey will need to be earned from opening a lunchbox as he is a Legendary Dweller.
ORIGINAL: A member of the Fallout Shelter team gave this update for Android users: "We’re working on the Android version and are hoping to release it in the next few months.
"When we have more concrete information to share, we’ll definitely let everyone know."
Speaking on the game's success, game director at Bethesda Game Studios, Todd Howard said: “We play games on our phones all the time, and have always wanted to make one.
“To have our first mobile game be enjoyed by so many is stunning. It just shows that gamers appreciate more depth and being treated fairly. It also shows people love Fallout as much as we do.”
Fallout Shelter headed for the top of the highest grossing apps list during its first week on the App Store, cracking the top-grossing chart and overtaking King’s Candy Crush as the App Store’s number three top-grossing app in the United States.
As of today's date, Fallout Shelter remains the number 1 most downloaded free game on the App Store, with play sessions reaching 70 million times a day by fans globally.
The game that puts you in control of a state-of-the-art underground Vault from Vault-Tec has proved a big hit, allowing fans to build their own perfect Vault by keeping their dwellers happy and protecting them from the dangers of the Wasteland.
Dwellers can be sent above ground to explore the blasted surface left behind to seek handy survival loot but can't be left up there to perish.
It's known to be pulling in the cash, becoming the third top-grossing iOS app in the United States and the UK, revealed by App Annie yesterday.
Fallout Shelter is also the most-downloaded free app in the United States App Store at this time (JUNE 18).
And fans of the console series can download Fallout Shelter and begin building their Vaults today via the Appple App Store, but what about those who don't have an iPhone 5 +, iPad Mini 2 +, iPad 3 or iPad Air 2?
It seems those on Android platforms have a while to wait, with Bethesda confirming this week: "We're also working on Fallout Shelter for Android.
"Hopefully out in a few months."
The current version of Fallout Shelter has a 4-star rating, based on 20045 customers, on the official Apple App Store.
