Dick Advocaat demands new Sunderland players after dreadful start to season
Dick Advocaat wants more investment in Sunderland
SUNDERLAND boss Dick Advocaat has revealed his frustration with owner Ellis Short over a lack of progress in the club’s recruitment drive.

Head coach Advocaat wants to add two more “quality’’ players to the squad before the transfer window closes on September 1.
The Black Cats’ spending this summer has been modest – around £15million on five signings – while they clawed back £9m from the sale of striker Connor Wickham, 22, to Crystal Palace.
To further Advocaat’s worries, winger Adam Johnson faces around six weeks out with a shoulder injury.
Manchester United wideman Adnan Januzaj, 20, has been a loan target, but the Belgian – who scored in Friday’s 1-0 victory at Aston Villa – has indicated he wants to stay at Old Trafford.
Sunderland have also enquired about Liverpool’s Italian striker Fabio Borini, 24, who had a successful loan spell on Wearside two seasons ago.

But Dutchman Advocaat said: “I still think we desperately need another couple of players. We’ll be so happy on September 1, because things here change every day.
“It’s a ‘yes’, a ‘no’, another ‘no’ and then a ‘maybe’.
“Leicester finished last season with seven wins, one draw and one defeat. We couldn’t do that.
“We’re starting from a lower level and everyone, including the owner, has to understand that.
“If we have a good team, you only have to buy one or two good players – and that’s the biggest problem.”
