Yann M'Vila has joined Sunderland on a season-long loan |
DICK ADVOCAAT has won the race to sign highly-rated French international Yann M'Vila on loan from Rubin Kazan.
M'Vila becomes the fifth summer addition to Sunderland's squad alongside Jeremain Lens, Younes Kaboul, Sebastian Coates and Adam Matthew.
M'Vila, previously a target for Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, joins Sunderland after an unsuccessful loan spell at Inter Milan.
M'Vila struggled at Inter Milan last season |
But Sunderland sporting director Lee Congerton claims the Black Cats have beaten some top clubs to land the 25-year-old.
"Yann is a player who is highly regarded by a number of the elite clubs across Europe, playing for his national team of France from a young age," Congerton said.
"The Premier League presents a fresh challenge for him, it's one I know he is relishing and we are delighted to welcome him to the club."
The defensive midfielder began his career at Rennes winning most of his 22 caps for France there before moving to Rubin Kazan for £8million in 2013.
And M'Vila can't wait to get started at the Stadium of Light.

"I’m very happy to be a Sunderland player," he said. "I had a very good feeling training with the team, every player welcomed me and the feeling was very good with them so I’m excited for the start of the season.
"I've also wanted to play in the Premier League for a long time so I'm very happy to be here."
The club has agreed a deal which gives Sunderland the option of making the transfer permanent next summer.
Sunderland kick-off their Premier League campaign this Saturday (3pm) at Leicester City.
