Ezequiel Garay and Aymen Abdennour are reportedly on Chelsea's wishlist |
CHELSEA are looking to sign Argentina defender Ezequiel Garay and Monaco’s Aymen Abdennour, according to reports.
After missing out on signing Everton's John Stones, Chelsea are now looking at alternative transfer options as deadline day fast approaches on September 1.
The Toffees snubbed three offers from Chelsea for Stones and Roberto Martinez also rejected the 21-year-old's transfer request as he attempted to force a move to Stamford Bridge.
And now after admitting defeat in the chase for the centre-back, the Premier League champions have now switched focus to Garay and Abdennour as the look to bolster their defence.
The Daily Telegraph claim the pair are among the list of targets Chelsea are looking to sign, while the Daily Mail report the Blues are confident of securing a move for Abdennour before the window shuts at 6pm on Tuesday.
Both players are represented by Jorge Mendes, the same agent as Blues boss Jose Mourinho, however Zenit St Petersbourg are said to be keen to keep Garay, while Valencia are reportedly in negotiations to sign Abdennour.
Monaco ace Abdennour has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool this summer after reports suggest the Tunisia defender wants a move abroad.
While Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly interested in Garay.
