Sergio Busquets (second left) has urged his "friend" Pedro (second right) to stay at Barcelona |
SERGIO BUSQUETS has urged Pedro to reject Manchester United and claims he wants to stay in Spain.
The Barcelona midfielder admits the winger is unsettled because of a lack of playing time but says he would jump at the chance to stay if manager Luis Enrique could guarantee him more minutes.
However, his 28-year-old team-mate is expected to complete a move to Old Trafford in the coming days.
"I am selfish and I want Pedro to stay," Busquets said.
"We are friends and he gives a lot to the team.
"Until there is any official word, the entire team hopes he will stay here. It is a difficult moment for him, but we wish him all the best.
"He wants to stay at Barcelona, but he also wants regular playing time, like every player in the world.
"I hope that whatever happens is what's best for him.
"He will always give his all for the team, whether he stays here or moves on. It is up to him to make a decision.
"He will continue to give his all for the team right until the end."
Pedro appeared to bid an emotional farewell to the club he joined 10 years ago, bagging the winner in Barca's 5-4 win over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup.
